We enjoyed a wonderful conference this year! We were enriched by our many wonderful presenters. We met new friends and caught up with old ones. We missed many faces, but hope to see you all again!
Next year, in 2017, we will gather regionally. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet students and practitioners that live in your area. The locations have not been finalized, but wherever there is interest, and someone to organize the details, is another opportunity to enrich each other.
The Gatherings may be as simple as meeting in someone’s home or at a restaurant. You could ask one or more people to speak, or just share your best ideas. Pot-luck or catered, it’s up to you!
We will create a packet that has suggestions and ideas, in case you’d like some guidance. Other than that, we have set aside a weekend in April that you may choose a day from. April 28, 29 or 30th. This way, we can share information in an informal AGM, (annual general meeting) and get any information to you or take care of anything that may need voting on.
If you are willing to organize in your area, please let us know!
Watch this space for information on the 2017 Gatherings, as well as the wonderfulness that is in store in 2018 for our next EnKA National/International Conference.
MEET ME IN CHICAGO
August 11-13, 2016
We’re very pleased to be hosting the EnKA conference in Chicago this year. It’s a new venue for us, and promises to be very exciting. Besides being one of the nation’s world-class cities, Chicago is home to several new EnKA members and we thought we’d welcome them to the organization properly!
The conference starts off on Thursday morning (August 11) with a kick-off breakfast. This will be a place to meet and greet old friends and perhaps make a few new ones. We’re offering a full breakfast (7:30 – 8:45), so be sure to get there with plenty of time to eat and chat. After breakfast, we’ll have a full day of speakers and then a free evening to explore Chicago or catch up on some sleep. (See the speakers list for more detailed information about each presenter.)
Friday (August 12) is a full day again, including speakers and our Annual General Meeting. You’ll enjoy a full-buffet luncheon at the meeting, and again have the opportunity to explore the city in the evening.
Saturday (August 13) includes more speakers, culminating in a banquet that evening. We’ll honor some out-going board members and have fun bidding on items at the live auction. There might even be a surprise or two in store…
Sunday, Monday and Tuesday after the conference, Charles Krebs is offering a 3-day class, which is a rare treat. Be sure to check out the particulars of his course in the Workshop section of the webpage for the conference.
The conference is at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare, just a short distance from the O’Hare airport. A shuttle will bring you from the airport directly to the hotel. We’ve negotiated a very good price for the rooms, so be sure to call the hotel to make a reservation soon. The price goes away at the beginning of July, so don’t delay.

Chicago is a city you could explore for days and still not be finished enjoying its many charms. Some activities we suggest are visiting the Old Navy Pier, taking the city architectural tour by boat and stopping by the Art Institute. Perhaps you should consider coming a day or two early or staying on a few days after the conference just to have time to give this city justice.
Catch up with old friends and meet some new colleagues. Hear exciting speakers and learn new science, while adding innovative techniques to your repertoire. This year’s conference promises to be exciting, convivial and fun!
So, Meet Me In Chicago! I look forward to seeing you there-
Meet me in Chicago, “The Heart of America”, where the river runs backwards and the Art Institute has the largest collection of Impressionist paintings outside of the Louvre.
Chicago is where the world first saw inventions as diverse as the common zipper, the Ferris Wheel, the vacuum cleaner and Cracker Jacks. Chicago was the location of the first automobile race, and now…… the gathering place for the EnKA Conference!
